KARYA SIDDHI HANUMAN TEMPLE
THE BEGINNING
In August 2007, His Holiness Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji, Pontiff of Avadhoota Datta Peetham in India, came to the United States from Canada. No one expected the visit to extend to the US. But to the surprise of everyone, it was announced that Sri Swamiji would be visiting Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Even then no one imagined the important directives that Sri Swamiji would entrust to the Texas devotees.
Many devotees, after hurriedly rearranging their work, school and personal commitments, arrived in Baton Rouge to have darshan of Sri Swamiji. After the morning program, Sri Swamiji announced that the Texas devotes should gather in the temple for a special meeting. Since Texas is within driving distance from Baton Rouge, most of the Texas devotees were present.
Sri Swamiji addressed the Texas devotees for a few minutes on various topics. He then changed topics and came to the main reason for the meeting. Sri Swamiji announced His sankalpa that a Marakata (emerald) Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple should be built in the Dallas area. Sri Swamiji gave instructions that the land should be minimum 5 acres so that parking would not be a problem. He also said that it would be ideal for the land to be near another religious facility or school so that parking may be shared. The devotees gathered there were excited and speechless at the blessing.
THE LAND SEARCH
The search for land began in August 2007 immediately after everyone returned to Dallas. As the land search began, many thought that the process would take time. However, due to Swamiji’s will, the land was found by the end of September and purchased in January 2008. Swamiji had strictly advised that no land should be purchased until all necessary city zonings and approvals were obtained. All approvals were final in January before the land closing.
ABOUT THE LAND
The land, which is now the home of Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple, is located in the city of Frisco. Frisco is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and has grown to 100,000 over the last 10 years. The city is home to a diverse group of people. As Swamiji had mentioned in Baton Rouge, the land is situated next to a church, across from a school, and in the heart of a residential area. It is only through Swamiji’s grace that such a prime piece of land was found.
CURRENT STATUS
Construction of the 10,000 square foot building, parking lot, and road expansion began in September 2008. The construction project is now complete, and the building holds a large prayer hall with the Hanuman moorthy, 6 classrooms, Swamiji’s quarters, Priest quarters, commercial kitchen, bookstall, and office. Until the main Indian architecture based temple is complete, this building will serve as the temple as well as home for Bala Datta Sunday school classes for children.
