Hanuman Setu Bandha
Lord Hanuman is the epitome of devotion. He is the unique deity in Indian philosophy who is quoted as an example of the nine types of devotion (Shravana- listening to the holy name of the Lord, Keertana- singing the glory of the Lord, Smarana- contemplating on the Lord, Paadasevanam-serving the lotus feet of the Lord, Archana- Worshiping the Lord, Vandana- Prostrating to the Lord, Dasya- Cultivating the feeling of being a servant of the Lord, Sakhya- cultivating friendship with the Lord, Atma Nivedanam- total self surrender). In fact Lord Hanuman is more pleased when he is addressed to as Ramabhakta (devotee of Lord Rama). He readily fulfils the wishes of all those who sing the praise of Lord Rama and bestows on them health, wealth and prosperity (ashta siddhi nava nidhi ke data). Despite being the repository of unequalled valor (atulita bala dhama) and granter of infinite knowledge (jnana pandita), Lord Hanuman, is a humble servitor of Lord Rama. This highlights Lord Hanuman’s tremendous control of ego. This humility of Lord Hanuman must be emulated by every true disciple of Sadguru. He is a role model for all the true disciples.
Lord Hanuman is the link between Rama and Sita as narrated in the Ramayana. A deeper contemplation enables one to focus on the inner meaning of Ramayana. Rama is none other than the Paramatman (Supreme self). Sita represents the Jeevatma (Individual self). The link between this individual self and supreme self is Prana (life force). Thus Lord Hanuman who served as a bridge between Rama and Sita is admired as Prana deva. Worship of such a deity serves as a Setu (bridge) for spiritual growth and culmination of the individual self into the Supreme. Lord Hanuman therefore plays the role of Sadguru for all the seekers and leads them to the state of eternal bliss.
When the pursuit for such a goal becomes intense, one is automatically redeemed from the innumerable self created bondages that are the cause of suffering. Attachment or link (bandham) with Sadguru redeems one from bhava bandha (worldly bondage and suffering).
Hanuman Setubandha project has been conceived by Sri Sri Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji to bestow untainted devotion (bhakti), infinite knowledge (jnana), redemption from bondages (vairagya) and eternal grace of Guru (yoga).
